Verification Simulation

Prior to treatment the radiation therapists will perform a verification simulation. This simulation uses the treatment machine to verify the marks on your skin, check the positioning of any shielding devices, and confirm the computer plan designed for each individual by the radiation oncologist and dosimetrist.

Once the aspects of the treatment fields are set, the therapists will take x-rays of the treatment fields and verify the treatment plan and treatment fields coincide.  Once the x-rays are taken, the therapist will read off measurements to verify with the computer plan and they will also outline on your skin where the radiation will enter.

This appointment finishes the mapping out process for your plan. Shortly after this appointment, radiation treatments begin.
